Jim is the partner-in-charge of the US Corporate Tax Services practice in KPMG’s Calgary office. With nearly 32 years of US corporate tax experience, he specializes in advising Canadian-based multinational clients with structuring their business operations in the US in a tax-efficient manner as well as helping them navigate through the complex US federal and state tax regimes. Jim was based in Detroit, Michigan for ten years, followed by over three years in Sydney, Australia and nearly two years in Toronto, Ontario before joining KPMG’s Calgary office in 2002. Jim specializes in advising Canadian multinational clients with cross-border transactions involving the U.S., including setting up, expanding, divesting and financing business operations in the U.S. He has worked with a variety of clients in different business sectors, including Energy, Energy Services, Oil and Gas, Mining, Construction, Technology and Agriculture. Jim is a member of the International Fiscal Association’s U.S. branch and the Canadian Petroleum Tax Society. He is also Corporate Secretary of the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada – Western Chapter as well as past Chairman.
