Phil is one of the firm’s leading cross-border, US GAAP, and SEC audit partners. He has extensive knowledge of SEC filing requirements, as well as deep industry experience gained through his role as lead and SEC filing review partner on numerous SEC registrants. He is a two-time member of our Department of Professional Practice in New York (DPP), where he worked on complex accounting and SEC issues identification, evaluation, and resolution. After leaving DPP, Phil has focused his practice on domestic and foreign SEC registrants based in Canada and with operations around the world. As a SEC partner, he has quick and ready access to key people in DPP who can be available to assist on issues as they arise. Phil has also been very active with our audit and advisory clients in assisting them in their conversions to US GAAP.
During the development of the new revenue standard, Phil headed, and continues as a member of, KPMG’s Global revenue recognition and provisions topic team, which has oversight responsibility on the firm’s positions in its subject areas which include revenue, provisions and regulatory accounting; in this role Phil advised clients and consults internally on the implications of IFRS to their existing practices, including on emerging issues such as exposure drafts and new standards.
