Kristen regularly represents taxpayers in litigation before the Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal. She also advises taxpayers on Canada Revenue Agency audits, rulings and objections and provides legal risk assessments on potential transactions.
Kristen dedicates her exacting attention to detail to presenting legal arguments, preparing evidence, and examining witnesses. In her written advocacy, Kristen brings rigour and creativity to submissions and factums for her clients.
Kristen has experience in a broad range of substantive tax issues, including the taxation of insurance policyholders and insurers, transfer pricing and other international tax issues, the general anti-avoidance rule, GST/HST, scientific research & experimental development claims, derivative assessments, expense deductibility, charitable donations, administrative reviews, limitation period issues, and penalties.
