Ranvir is a partner in the U.S. & Cross Border Tax Services group of KPMG Canada, Regions East. He is a Canadian lawyer, admitted to practice in both Ontario and Alberta, with over seventeen years of U.S. tax experience.
Ranvir started his U.S. tax career in Southwestern Ontario before moving to Toronto. Ranvir has previously worked in downtown Toronto, has been the Global Tax Lead for a publicly traded company, has led the Edmonton US tax practice for another firm, and has helped lead FATCA, Common Reporting Standard, and Qualified Intermediary Canadian service offerings, nationwide.
Ranvir primarily assists Canadian multi-national corporations with U.S. corporate tax matters and treaty optimization issues, relating to both federal and state level compliance, planning, and structuring. Ranvir has extensive experience in assisting organizations expand into the US while navigating the complex federal and state level tax rules. Ranvir also works closely with governmental pension plans and non-profit organizations to assist with investments into the U.S. and worldwide. Throughout his career, Ranvir has served various types of clients, including both public and private entities. His experience includes working with manufacturing companies, technology companies, real estate companies, private equity funds, financial institutions, pension funds, and public and private companies.
Ranvir holds a Master of Science in U.S. Taxation degree from Golden Gate University in California, a Bachelor of Law degree from Queen’s University, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta. Ranvir has also completed Parts I and II of the CICA (Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants) In-depth Taxation courses and is an admitted member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Law Society of Ontario.
