Michael is a Tax Partner based in KPMG’s Vancouver office who has more than 25 years of public practice experience working with clients in the consumer markets sector. Michael brings significant experience advising on a wide variety of Canadian and cross-border issues, including income tax credits, stock-based compensation, intellectual property ownership and planning, and expansion into foreign markets.

Michael advises clients on matters related to Canadian and cross-border taxation issues including mergers and acquisitions, foreign affiliates, and reorganizations.

In addition to tax advisory services, Michael has experience with tax compliance and tax accounting. Michael works with KPMG offices around the world and also works closely with KPMG’s specialty tax practices in Vancouver, including transfer pricing, commodity taxation and tax incentives.

Michael has spoken at various events on matters related to corporate reorganizations, tax governance and tax reporting.

Michael’s industry experience includes:

– International Expansion: Extensive experience advising clients on their expansion in new markets including intellectual property ownership, financing and profit repatriation.

– Mergers and Acquisitions: Advised on numerous acquisitions and corporate reorganizations.

– Divestiture Planning: Advised on a number of transactions involving the sale of Canadian businesses.
