Ali’s practice focuses on all aspects of commercial real estate matters including acquisitions, dispositions, development, financing of commercial properties, joint-venture structures (limited partnerships, co-ownerships, etc.) and commercial leasing. He also provides domestic and international clients with business solutions to clients’ complex legal issues and assists them in achieving their objectives in the most efficient and practical manner.

Ali also advise on real property matters as part of corporate acquisitions and reorganizations, equity offerings and insolvency restructurings.  As part of his real estate practice, Ali has acted for a number of financial institution and private lenders with respect to real estate focused financing.

  • Acted for a large developer in assembling, acquiring, financing the development and sale of a condominium site
  • Acted for private equity firm on its acquisition of a portfolio of retirement homes
  • Acted for an automotive group on its land acquisitions and reorganization
  • Acted for an insurance company on the sale of one of its office parks
  • Acted for an investor in acquiring lands to build a hotel and negotiating a licensing and management agreement with an international hotel operator
  • Acted for a Vietnamese developer in its expansion in Canada
  • Acted for numerous real estate investors on the structuring of joint ventures and co-ownerships 
  • Acted for a machinery auctioneer with respect to its acquisition and financing of a number of decommissioned plants
  • Acted for a number of financial instructions with respect to various real estate based financing matters
  • Advised on creation of a number of funds focused on real estate and automotive dealership assets
  • Advised on creation of a number of Mortgage Investment Entities (MIEs)
