KPMG held their annual Make a Difference Day.
On Friday, June 21, 2019, KPMG in Bermuda closed its doors for half a day enabling over 120 employees to participate in the firm’s annual Make a Difference Day (MaDD). This year, we supported The Habitat for Humanity of Bermuda at the Pembroke Rest Home, the Bermuda Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and the Windreach Recreational Village.
At the Habitat for Humanity, 10 teams of 8-10 people focused on washing walls, as well as painting them and doing landscaping work inside the building’s courtyard. Ms. Sheelagh Cooper from Habitat for Humanity of Bermuda, gave the KPMG team an outline of the plans for Pembroke Rest Home to help us with our work.
At the SPCA, one team painted walls in the back kitchen, sanding down doors as well as completing other cleaning tasks. The SPCA gave the KPMG team a tour of the facility, as well as shared a summary of the important work that the SPCA does in Bermuda.
Another KPMG team cleared vegetation and did landscaping at Windreach Recreational Village. Our employees got to see the horse stables, petting zoo and the playground in order to gain a better understanding of the good work being done throughout the community at the Recreational Village.
Sheelagh Cooper from Habitat for Humanity of Bermuda said “KPMG did a fabulous job! We are HUGELY grateful for their help!”
Paige Eversley, Recreation & Volunteer Coordinator at Windreach Bermuda said,
“Thank you for the hard work the team of volunteers provided. I cannot say enough how grateful we are to have such amazing community support to accomplish such big projects. We were very pleased and appreciate the time and effort! We hope to have you again in the future.”
Kate Terceira, Executive Director at the SPCA welcomed KPMG’s assistance and said that the SPCA looked forward to working with KPMG again in the future.
Joining the KPMG teams at each location, KPMG’s adopted school, Dellwood Middle School, students had the opportunity to take an in-depth educational tour of the Habitat for Humanity of Bermuda Pembroke Rest Home, the SPCA and the Windreach Recreational Village.
Sam Mawoyo, Assistant Manager in KPMG’s Advisory practice and co-organiser of the event said, “KPMG is proud to have accomplished another a successful Make a Difference Day. We thank the Habitat for Humanity, the SPCA and Windreach Recreational Village for allowing our teams to positively contribute to Bermuda.”
Sam Perry, Senior, KPMG’s Tax Practice and co-organiser of the event said, “Along with students from Dellwood, our team members enjoyed learning about the important work being done at the three charities while lending their time, skills and energy to the community.”
KPMG continues to be proud of our Corporate Citizenship programme and we look forward to continuing to make a difference in Bermuda.
