Eric Heinrichs

Managing Director

KPMG in Bermuda

Eric is a Managing Director in KPMG Bermuda’s Insurance practice.  He has over 15 years’ experience providing audit and advisory services to a wide variety of clients including SEC registrants, large private entities, and captive insurance companies.  Prior to joining KPMG in Bermuda, Eric worked for KPMG in Toronto, Canada, focusing primarily on public company audits. 

  • Eric’s client experience includes reinsurers, insurers, run-off companies, captives and alternative structures (insurance linked securities (ILS) funds).  His industry experience includes all classes of property/casualty business, finite reinsurance, weather risk, catastrophe bonds, life and annuity, and accident and health business.
  • Eric has served on many of our largest audit clients including SEC registrants and other large companies with multinational operations. He has extensive experience leading diverse teams of professionals comprised of audit, tax, actuarial and valuation specialists in multiple locations including Bermuda, London, New York and Dublin.
  • Eric has accounting and financial reporting expertise in US GAAP, IFRS and Canadian GAAP, including reinsurance accounting and risk transfer, loss reserving, business combinations, complex/alternative investments, stock based compensation, and derivatives.
  • Eric also has experience in providing advisory services in the insurance industry with particular focus on advising clients on the aspects of insurance regulatory matters, IFRS conversion, investment accounting and valuation, internal controls (design and implementation), and providing training.
