As part of our Management Consulting team, Jessica works with clients to problem solve, identify opportunities, and drive value.
Jessica is a co-op student with KPMG in Bermuda.
I am a co-op student, completing my Bachelor of Business Management, with a major in Leadership and Organisations, and I’m currently on an eight-month term placement with KPMG in Bermuda. Prior to joining the firm, my co-op training program at Dalhousie’s Rowe School of Business was a great experience. It provided me with a toolkit on what it takes to be a successful co-op student, including an in-depth review of my resume. The part I enjoyed most was the interview role plays we did – everything felt very much like real-life situations.
During the recruiting process, I was amazed at how much support I received from KPMG throughout the interviews. Both formal and informal mentors dedicated time to answer my questions. Then, I joined the Bermuda office in 2019 and experienced the world of Management Consulting for the first time. As a co-op student, I was very surprised how much my team trusted a newbie like me. I was entrusted with leading an important workstream, which included co-hosting a 15+ person client workshop with other team members and meeting key client leaders. I never would have imagined a co-op student would have been given so much autonomy and responsibility!
I also learned that “We lead by example” is not just a slogan at KPMG. I meet interesting colleagues every day, all of whom have been well-supported in creating their own career path within the firm.
When people ask me why I want to return as a full-time consultant, I answer people, people, people. It is absolutely the inspiring, caring, supportive, smart, creative and fun people who make the decision easy.
