The Entrepreneurship Forum hosted by KPMG in Bahrain held a seminar recently bringing together 80 representatives from local and family enterprises to discuss the importance of innovation and digitalization in the post pandemic era as a leverage for growth and trust. As we are still dealing with the impact from the pandemic within the marketplace, we are seeing a significant shift in customer behavior; while there are also some important themes that businesses need to consider to remain competitive while they grow.

Harish Gopinath, Partner and Head of KPMG Enterprise at KPMG in Bahrain welcomed the honorable participants and the guest speakers at the beginning of his speech and stated “Our theme reflects what we have learnt during the pandemic. To move forward, we need to learn from the challenges we have experienced over the past two years and identity critical opportunities for growth. According to KPMG’s global survey, rapid changes to customer behavior and supply chain dynamics; combined with business disruption and the inability to adapt new digital technology, required for business continuity and employee engagement, were among the key challenges faced by companies. Therefore, I believe, innovation and digitalization have become a matter of necessity to grow while remaining competitive in today’s marketplace.”

Dr. Jarmo Kotilaine, Chief Strategist at Tamkeen, was among the key guest speakers. During his presentation, he shared his insights on the importance of digitalization in building a marketplace driven by productivity and efficiency, which have become the new main growth drivers. He also showcased Tamkeen’s new strategy and initiatives to support companies in the post-pandemic era.

The attendees also learnt from key lessons shared by Hesham Al Saati, Chief Business Officer at HungerStation; and Saleh Abbas, Managing Director of Flat6 Labs, about best practices driven by innovation that helped business leaders overcome challenges within the marketplace while maintaining and increasing profitability. In addition, KPMG in Bahrain’s experts talked about Strategy and Digital Transformation for entrepreneurs.

Towards the end of the session, Harish Gopinath, explained the benefits of the Entrepreneurship Forum and reinforced his belief that entrepreneurs have an important role to play within the marketplace, and that it was critical to be able to share insights and bests practices to enable these developments. KPMG in Bahrain’s Entrepreneurship Forum was established in 2015 to mentor and coach owners of small to medium sized businesses, helping them grow their businesses and increase their positive impact within the local marketplace and national economy.
