  • Gender empowerment is a core element within KPMG in Bahrain, and through this MoU the firm aims to amplify their impact in the broader community within the Kingdom. 

KPMG in Bahrain announced today that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shamsaha, a women’s focused non-profit organization. The collaboration will further strengthen the relationship between both entities, resulting in the advancement of Shamsaha’s women empowerment and protection programs.

The signing ceremony was held at Shamsaha’s Head Office in the West Tower of the Bahrain Financial Harbour, and was attended by the Managing Partner for KPMG in Bahrain, Jamal Fakhro, along with Shamsaha’s founder and Executive Director, Mary-Justine Todd.

The partnership will enable knowledge exchange opportunities aimed at achieving gender equality as a part of the commitment towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and specifically SDG 5- Gender Equality. 

On the occasion, Jamal Fakhro said: “It is truly inspiring to see how Shamsaha has developed a unique program that targets a range of critical needs within society to support women and provide them with the required security and confidence, while bringing together key stakeholders within the community like healthcare, public security, businesses and the youth. We are proud to be associated with Shamsaha, and it would be a honor for us to collaborate with them while leveraging the core skills and capabilities of our firm and our people to further the impact they have on individuals and communities across the Kingdom, and even the wider region.”

We are also extremely excited to advancing our commitment towards SDG 5, specifically targeting the end of all discrimination and violence against women.”

Shamsaha operates the only existing internationally recognized women’s crisis advocacy response program in the Middle East, providing 24/7 free and confidential crisis care for victims of domestic abuse, with the vision of empowering women to thrive. Shamsaha also provides trainings and workshops on gender empowerment and equal opportunity within the workplace.
