On 8 November, KPMG in Azerbaijan hosted the annual IFRS Update for clients at the JW Marriott Absheron Hotel.
The workshop commenced with a welcoming speech from Leonid Tverdokhlebov, Audit Director at KPMG in Azerbaijan, after which Mikhail Stepanov, DPP Partner at KPMG in Russia and the CIS, delivered the presentation “Revenue from contracts with customers, Leases, Financial instruments: Overview of expected credit loss models and Overview of recent changes to IFRS”.
Before that, on 3 November, the IFRS Update 2017 for financial sector clients was held at the KPMG office in Baku and hosted by Ravshan Irmatov, Audit Partner at KPMG in Kazakhstan. Ravshan delivered the presentation on Classification & Measurement, Impairment, and Financial guarantee contracts and made an overview of the changes in IFRS and the amendments taking effect in the near future.
The events was attended by experts from the companies engaged in preparing IFRS financial statements as well as accounting, financial and internal audit staff. The audience took an active part in Q&A session, which took place at the end of each event.
