On July 06, 2017 - KPMG in Azerbaijan in partnership with Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications (CAERC) has launched two-day training on “Corporate Governance” for state owned enterprises of Azerbaijan Republic.
The objective of the training is to increase the capacity and awareness of public institutions on introduction of Corporate Governance principles, to demonstrate best practice operational models and distribution of roles and responsibilities within cohesively integrated systems to ensure operational efficiency and transparency as well as clear divisions of roles between management versus governance under best practice principles of corporate governance, define the scope and functional framework of various operational structures such as internal audit, internal control, risk management, strategic planning, etc.
Mr. Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of CAERC expressed his thankfulness to KPMG in Azerbaijan for organization of this event emphasizing the importance of this seminar on the implementation of government strategy and priority to introduce and support Corporate Governance principles in state owned enterprises. He added that this seminar creates unique opportunity for various state owned enterprises to share their experience, discuss in interactive way issues and challenges in introduction of various principles and gain best international practice how to apply in more practical and efficient manner corporate governance principles.
Vugar Aliyev, Managing partner of KPMG in Azerbaijan made an opening speech and mentioned that introduction of Corporate Governance principles has always been one of the priority service delivery areas of KPMG in global context. In that regard, KPMG in Azerbaijan has been cooperating with various private and state owned enterprises in Azerbaijan on different dimensions of introduction of corporate governance principles. He further underlined that KPMG in Azerbaijan will further support the government initiative on this subject matter.
The event was attended by mid to high-level authorized officials from up to 30 organizations and at the end of training participants will be awarded with the Certificate.
