KPMG has announced the appointment of Stuart Fuller as the new Global Head of Legal Services for KPMG – the first time an Australian has been selected for the global role.
Stuart, who is currently the head of KPMG Law in Australia and Asia Pacific Regional Leader for Legal Services, will continue to be based in Australia in his new role. He takes over from Swiss-based global legal leader, Juerg Birri, who retires from KPMG at the end of July.
Stuart Fuller has a strong track record in the legal sector both locally and overseas. Joining KPMG in March 2018, he has served as both Head of KPMG Law in Australia, and as Asia Pacific Regional Leader for Legal Services for KPMG.
Prior to joining KPMG, Stuart spent 27 years at King & Wood Mallesons, where he was most recently Global Managing Partner.
Kate Marshall, a partner in KPMG Law in Australia, will succeed Stuart Fuller as the Head of KPMG Law in Australia.
Kate has more than 25 years experience as a data, technology and privacy lawyer. Her understanding of data in the context of regulatory compliance, Artificial Intelligence, and ethics is highly regarded and she has been frequently recognised as a leader in the field in Best Lawyers.
Gary Wingrove, CEO KPMG Australia said the appointments were significant milestones for both the Australian and global firms.
“Stuart has outstanding international experience, understands the demands of cross border transactions and the pressures of operating in a global environment but also brings the local view from his excellent track record in both the Australian and Asia-Pacific legal and business markets,” Mr Wingrove said.
“With the appointment of Kate Marshall, we have a leader who is an expert in the key areas of emerging technologies, privacy compliance, and digital strategy. In addition, Kate’s data breach experience, and her recent work with KPMG’s forensic and cyber teams make her ideally suited to drive growth in a time when business is looking for strong guidance in these key areas.”
Both appointments are effective from 1 August 2019.
