Professor Stephen Parker, AO, recent past Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Canberra, will be joining KPMG as the national Lead Education Partner, commencing on 27 February 2017.
Professor Parker will lead the development and implementation of the firm’s growth strategy across the education sector nationally. Stephen will be based in KPMG’s new Collins Square office in Melbourne.
Professor Parker received the Order of Australia for “distinguished services to tertiary education through administrative, academic and representational roles, and as a leader in the growth and development of the University of Canberra”.
He led the transformation of the University of Canberra and also served as the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Monash University (2003-2007), Dean of Faculty of Law at Monash (1999-2003), Professor of Law at Griffith University, and Senior Lecturer and Reader in Law at the Australian National University.
Other notable appointments are Professorial Fellow, University of Melbourne; barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of the ACT, barrister-at-law of the Supreme Court of Queensland and solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. Stephen has published books, monographs and articles on the court system, legal ethics, family law and children's rights.
