As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we are committed to supporting our people, our clients and our wider community. We are all facing these unprecedented circumstances together, but together we can rise to these new challenges and help each other.
First and foremost our focus is on the health and wellbeing of our people, our clients and our communities. We are committed to making informed, balanced and respectful decisions based on the expert medical advice of the Australian authorities and sharing our insights and information to help.
Our response measures are aligned with the advice provided by KPMG International, Australian Government Department of Health, State Health Authorities and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). We are actively evaluating our response and our recommendations for businesses based on the reality of their effectiveness and being guided by the medical expertise.
Minimising disruption to our clients is a high priority, all KPMG member firms remain operational and are ready to help our clients with the additional challenges brought about by this crisis.

KPMG business resilience and continuity
KPMG’s Business Continuity Management System is implemented to the ISO 22301 standard and is independently assessed. Our Business Resilience & Continuity framework aims to ensure the:
- safety of our people and visitors
- continued provision of key client services and operations.
We have mobilised COVID-19 response teams to continually monitor, review and manage our response to the evolving situation. Ongoing reviews by these teams, and supporting working groups, include managing the current and potential impacts on our people, office locations, operations and client services.
We have Business Continuity Teams for all locations, Core Systems and Client Services which support our capability to recover business operations in the event of any significant disruption to our core systems and key client services. Due to the geographic spread of our people and offices around Australia, we are resilient to the impact of a disruption in any single location.
Current guiding principles for keeping our community healthy
KPMG has initiated a number of changes, as guided by the Australian health authorities, to help ensure the wellbeing of our people, our clients and our community.
Working from home or at the office
KPMG Agile is part of our day-to-day working culture – it embraces flexible working that delivers freedom and choice of where and how to work for our people.
We already have the ability for the vast majority of our people to work remotely if required.
Through industry best practice, methodologies and standards, we’ve made significant investments in technologies to ensure agile working is effective, efficient and resilient.
- To date we have implemented key controls to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our people, clients and communities.
- Our controls are aligned with the advice provide by Australian Government Department of Health, State Health Authorities, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) & KPMG International.
- We’re taking a precautionary approach that is reasonable, informed and balanced, and maintains fairness and respect across communities. We are conducting ongoing reviews to determine if additional controls are required.
All people who arrive in Australia from midnight 15 March 2020 are required to self-isolate for 14 days.
Interstate travellers are to fully comply with state self-isolation requirements.
Our people are required to work from home for 14 days and seek medical clearance before they return to the office if they:
- had contact with someone who has or is suspected of having COVID-19
- have symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, high temperature, shortness of breath)
- been living in a house hold with a confirmed case you are to self-quarantine for 14 days after the symptoms cease.
Our people are to not come in to the office if they have any flu-like symptoms or are feeling unwell.
Where our people are working at client sites, they will comply with all client protocols, including working from home and split work arrangements.
Meetings and events
All domestic travel has been suspended.
All international travel has been suspended.
Visiting KPMG offices
KPMG Concierge has in place screening at all locational nationally.
Interstate travellers are to fully comply with state self-isolation requirements before visiting a KPMG office.
Clients and visitors who have symptoms or who have travelled abroad in the last 14 days are being asked to conduct meetings by phone or video conference, rather than face-to-face. Our people have been advised if they have meetings planned with clients and visitors who will be impacted by the process, to make alternative arrangements to avoid people coming to our offices and being asked to leave.
