The Liberal Government and the Labor Opposition took the opportunity to launch policy platforms for the mining industry during Minerals Week 2019 in Canberra.
The respective policy announcements followed the Minerals Council of Australia’s (MCA) released its key priorities via ‘The next frontier: Australian mining policy priorities’, highlighting four issues, among others, in the pursuit of tax reform:
While new tax policy for the mining sector didn’t get announced, both parties chose to focus on jobs and embracing technology and available data.
