Background information

The Company previously operated a legal practice in Flinders Street, Adelaide.

The Law Society of South Australia (LSSA) appointed a Supervisor to the Company’s trust account and a Manager to the Company’s legal practice pursuant to the Legal Practitioners Act on 11 December 2014 and 19 December 2014 respectively.

The effect of the appointments by the LSSA was that the Manager and Supervisor controlled the Company’s legal practice and trust account from December 2014. To ensure the Company’s clients continued to receive proper legal representation, the Manager managed the Company’s ongoing files and allocated them to other practitioners, collected the Company’s debts and attended to closing the Company’s legal practice. The Company’s legal practice was closed in approximately March 2015.

On 9 November 2016, and approximately 19 months after the Company’s legal practice had ceased trading, Martin Lewis was appointed Liquidator of the Company pursuant to an Order of the Federal Court of Australia.

The winding up order was made on the application of the Australian Taxation Office.

From 31 December 2020, Martin Lewis will resign as Liquidator and David Kidman will be appointed as Liquidator of the Company. Read a copy of the Order in relation to the resignation of Martin Lewis and appointment of David Kidman.
