Aina Musaeva

Data Scientist, Data & Cloud

KPMG Australia

Aina uses data to help clients make fact-based decisions about their business to better utilise their resources and improve their operations and the satisfaction of their customers.

A data scientist with a background in quantitative science, Aina works for KPMG’s Data & Cloud team. She has more than 5 years of experience in astrophysics, academia, and with the Federal Government.

Aina completed her PhD at The University of Sydney, where she developed a machine learning technique suitable for processing large volumes of X-ray data and automatic classification of X-ray sources detected by space telescopes. This technique is applicable for processing the data to be collected by the eROSITA telescope now that it has reached its orbit and commenced surveying the whole sky.

Before joining KPMG in 2018, Aina worked within Government, where she developed a pipeline for processing raw data. This pipeline selected appropriate calibration data and the output of science images and spectra collected by the Anglo-Australian Telescope, the largest optical telescope in Australia. She was involved in developing the Australian Astronomical Observatory Data Central (ADC) application, an online archive that serves spectra, data cubes, tables and image datasets collected by major Australian ground telescopes.
