In June 2021, Sean was appointed as a Director within KPMG Australia's Frontline Operator Centre of Excellence. He leads a national practice that delivers services and solutions to organisations with large, technically-skilled workforces that perform on-site work that cannot be conducted remotely.
Sean specialises in systems thinking and the introduction of operational and information technology to convert strategic aspirations into operational reality. His experience includes the delivery of a technologically ground-breaking fast jet simulator system, design and prototyping of a field mobility computing solution for frontline operators, and the procurement and modification of helicopters for powerline survey.
Sean began his professional career by spending 11 years as a commissioned officer and aircraft carrier-based fighter pilot in the US Navy. Through this unique experience, he became an expert in leading frontline high reliability operations – leading teams operating tightly coupled technologies in the face of major hazards with very few safety or operational incidents.
In 2003, Sean migrated to Australia, and has gained experience in delivering transformational outcomes in the defence, transport, power & utilities, and oil & gas sectors. He is experienced in the introduction or transformation of new operational capabilities, delivery of step change improvements in operational safety, achieving cost reduction targets through operational efficiencies, and strengthening organisational response to shocks and disruptions.
