Peter Harmston

Director, Transformation Program Management

Peter is a Director in the Transformation Program Management group. Since joining KPMG, Peter has worked a number of lead roles in Retail Banking and Telecommunications focused on transformation, Operational Excellence and Lean.

Currently, Peter is the Program Manager for the New Payments Platform Program across 13 financial organisations setting up and leading the Program Management Office, Planning, Communications and governance across this multi-billion pan industry program.

Previously, Peter led two work streams on a large Lean Program at a major Retail Bank. These work streams involve leading a team through the end to end reviews of core retail banking processes (credit card origination and transaction account servicing) by taking each process through a robust Lean improvement cycle from idea to implementation using various Lean tools and techniques.

Prior to joining KPMG Peter worked for The Royal Bank of Scotland in various roles including, Operations Manager, Associate Director in Corporate Banking and latterly headed up the improvement team for the Credit Card Division, focussing on cost reduction and complaints reduction.

Peter led the Lean transformation at a large wealth management company. This involved him leading a team through the full end to end improvement cycle for a number of key processes, with the result of reduced costs, increased efficiency & revenue.
