Shaien brings over 10 years of professional experience to KPMG and is currently an Associate Director in our Risk Consulting practice in Melbourne, Australia. He has more than 9 years of experience conducting Software License Reviews (SLR), and has also worked on other engagements such as Supplier Reviews, and Software Asset Management (SAM) reviews.

Shaien’s relevant experience includes:
  • managing the Software Licence programme for IBM, Oracle and VMWare
  • executing in the enterprise segment, complex compliance audits and Licence Management assessments for IBM customers in Australia
  • broad and deep experience in the IBM SAM programme and is currently the lead in ANZ and part of the ‘centre of excellence’ team assisting customers in the ASPAC region
  • delivering on most of the enterprise SLR reviews that have commenced in the ANZ region in the past few years and working collaboratively with vendors and the customer to deliver on these reviews
  • being the primary relationship owner for the Melbourne compliance managers and routinely participating and leading settlement meetings between the client and the audited customer.

Shaien has led and conducted multiple Software License Compliance Reviews for various Enterprise customers. He has conducted IBM Enterprise reviews in South Africa, Mauritius, Kenya, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates and Australia. There is an emphasis on collecting the necessary deployment data on hardware and software, analysing the data collected according to the different license metrics set within the respective contracts and reconcile deployments figures to license entitlements. A majority of Software compliance reviews now have a huge emphasis on the understanding of the customer’s virtual environment. Shaien has successfully completed many of these Software reviews for many vendors from start to finish and has extensive technical knowledge of licencing metrics, virtualisation, partitioning, clustering etc.
