Grad recruitment: Are you the visionary?

In a nutshell, what does your business group/service line do?

We are the CFO’s problem solvers. Whether it is providing tools, improved processes, outsourced capacity or technical expertise, we work with our clients to develop and implement practical advice, recommendations to a range of complex accounting, financial and regulatory challenges. Our clients choose us for our specialist knowledge, collaborative approach and ability to engage on a range of interconnected services. Our balance of assurance and advisory experience enables us to deliver compliant, commercial outcomes.

Our key areas of focus include:

  • Providing leading technical accounting advice under IFRS
  • Supporting finance teams to develop effective financial and regulatory reporting processes
  • Delivering reporting excellence using sound governance and control principles
  • Promoting effective decision making using financial tools.

What does the average day look like?

Your day, where you are working, and who you are working with, will vary significantly depending on the project team you are a part of and the client you are supporting. Our team works flexibly to meet our clients’ needs, this might be working on site at the clients’ office, or off-site at KPMG. Although no two days are the same, each day will provide opportunities to deliver value for your clients, develop your capabilities and build your professional network.

What will I learn in the first year?

As a graduate, you will always be learning how to do new things. You will learn about types of issues that are on the mind of CFOs and how changes in the regulatory environment impact our clients. From the very beginning you will have opportunities to get your hands dirty, experiencing different types of engagements across as many of our key focus areas as possible, to help you understand the breadth of our services, meet different team members and embed yourself as part of the team. You will also quickly learn that CFOA has a very collaborative culture and that everyone is happy to help you out or point you in the right direction.

What’s the best part of the role?

The variety of work and the people you meet at KPMG are definitely the best parts of the role. Our team has smart, driven, interesting people who genuinely care about your development. You’ll be provided with constant feedback and mentorship to help you develop and given autonomy to produce your best work.
