He has played an active role in many well-known sustainability initiatives and organizations including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Integrated Reporting (<IR>), World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
KPMG’s Sustainability Services network comprises several hundred professional consultants located at around 60 KPMG member firms worldwide. They provide a comprehensive range of services to clients including sustainability reporting advice and assurance; social and environmental impact assessment; sustainable investment support; sustainable supply chain development and advice on business and human rights.
José Luis takes over the global role from Adrian King who leads the Sustainability Services practice at KPMG Australia and who served as Global Head of KPMG Sustainability Services for 3 years.
José Luis Blasco said:
“Sustainability provides a lens for corporations to understand changes such as social trends, demands for greater transparency, integration and transition to a low-carbon and circular economy. These changes have the potential to affect corporate value and call for a more effective way to manage risks and identify opportunities. Dealing with this new normal is an integral part of being a successful business today and essential to building long-term value. My role is to make sustainability part and parcel of what KPMG does for our clients, whether we’re performing an audit, assessing risks, developing strategy or advising on tax.”
