Muzaffar is a Director co-leading KPMG Lower Gulf’s UAE tax team, based in Dubai. With more than 20 years of experience, he specializes in mergers and acquisitions, international tax, tax governance and UAE/GCC inbound projects. Muzaffar works with a diversified group of UAE-based companies, SWFs and PEs, as well as MNCs and private sector entities operating or investing in or via the UAE. His projects range from single entity to large multi-country groups, and relate to a number of industries including oil and gas, traditional and alternative energy, infrastructure and utilities, transport and logistics, hi-tech and media. Prior to joining KPMG Lower Gulf, Muzaffar worked in Russia, China, Qatar and Uzbekistan. He worked in Russia for 13 years, focused mainly on inbound and domestic M&A transactions in multiple sectors, as well as CIS for international and Russian companies and funds. In China, Muzaffar was responsible for outbound investments by major Chinese state (including SWF) and private companies. He also worked in Qatar for two years, supporting major local companies and MNCs on a range of international tax, M&A, TP/CBCR, BEPS and domestic taxation matters. In Uzbekistan, Muzaffar was a member of a tax team dealing with inbound investments, general tax consulting and tax audit/compliance projects for Uzbek companies and foreign investors.
